To Do Tuesday #99 from The Quilt Yarn

A few weeks ago I set the following goals:

- continue making those strippy blocks, so that I can get on cutting out the sashing and put all this together
- continue on the background filler project

Well, I did continue on the strippy quilt and managed to finish the quilt top
It turned out very bright and colourful and I was very happy to have persisted with the orange strips. Initially I thought it would not be enough fabric but then managed to think that through and work out exactly how I could make this work. Had about an inch left ...

Pastel Baby Finished from Wedding Dress Blue

It isn’t my usual style, but I do like it.

Small (32″ x 32″) and sweet.

The back isn’t my very favorite, but it did use fabric that I had on hand.

And finished! Another warm baby in the world.

New pattern: "By the Hours" baby quilt and coordinating pillow from Carried Away Quilting

Several years ago, I made a simple patchwork quilt of five-inch squares for the new granddaughter of a dear friend. I was tickled to learn that the baby’s mother was using this quilt to track her daughter’s growth!  Each month she took a photograph of the baby on the patchwork quilt, documenting how she stretched in length. This was this inspiration for my newest quilt pattern, By the Hours.
